NER/LNER Worsdell "J72" Class 0-6-0T

Class Types
NER Class E1

General
Designer Worsdell

Pre-Grouping North Eastern Railway
Big Four London and North Eastern Railway
Description (1957) Class J72, a unique class of Worsdell 0-6-0T's. The original 85 engines were built between 1898 and 1925, the class being perpetuated by British Railways and a further 28 locomotives constructed 1949-51. No parallel example can be found in the British Isles, and probably not in the world, of a design being constructed at intervals over a period of fifty-four years practically without alteration.
