Introduced 1951
Description (1957) A 'Pacific' design of somewhat lighter construction than the 'Britannia' class, with 6' 2" wheels and 2 outside cylinders 19½" x 28". Ten engines, named after Scottish clans, were built in 1952 and are allocated to Scotland. A further fifteen were on order, five for the Southern and another ten for Scotland, but these have not been built.
