06/02/1953 Oswestry Swindon built L.M.R. 'Ivatt' Class 2. 2-6-0s 46503-18 had arrived: (46503 returned to Swindon for minor repairs), and were engaged on both Passenger and Goods duties to Whitchurch, Brecon and Aberystwyth. Although some are housed overnight at Moat Lane and Llanidloes, they are all at the moment concentrated at Oswestry, to enable the maintenance and operating crews to familiarise themselves with the lubrication system and footplate layout. B.R. Standard Class 2. 2-6-0s built at Darlington, Nos. 78000 an 78001, fitted with B.R. 3. 3,000 gal. tenders; Nos. 939, 940/52 are allocated to Oswestry, they arrived during w/e 7/2/53. On the same date, Dean 0-6-0s 2327 an 2384 also ex-Cambrian 0-6-0s 873 an 893 were observed working freight turns in the Oswestry area. SLS/195304
