02/08/1957 Taff Vale Railway Class H 0-6-0T 193 This locomotive, number 193 - one of three built for working the famous incline near Tonypandy-was withdrawn in 1952 and sold to the N.C.B., when it worked in the South Wales Tar Distillery at Caerphilly (overlooking the Works there) until February of this year. It was then acquired by a shipping company for use as a heating system and installed on the West Quay of Cardiff Docks some distance from C.E.D. shed until July of this year when it was sent across to E. Dock shed for repairs. However it was noted on 2nd August intact, except for coupling rods, but apparently awaiting despatch to Caerphilly for scrap. SLS/195709
