Description (1957) Class A5/1. Great Central Robinson 5'7" 4-6-2T's, originally 31 engines built 1911-23. One locomotive, not included in the renumbering scheme, was scrapped in 1942, but the remainder are still in service in 1957.

Class A5/2, 13 engines similar to class A5/1, but with detail differences. Built by Gresley in 1925-26 for use in the North Eastern area around Middlesborough.
