| Description (1957) |
Class N5. M.S. & L.R. 5'1" 0-6-2T's, a class of 129 engines built between 1891 and 1901. No. 69250 was the first locomotive in this country to be fitted with a Belpaire firebox. No. 69270 and one other (taken out of service in 1936 and consequently not included in the renumbering scheme) were built new for the Wrexham, Mold and Connah's Quay Railway to the G.C.R. design. This line was absorbed by the Great Central in 1905. Withdrawals have been heavy since 1954. |
