| Description (1957) |
Class U1 Gresley 2-8-8-2T Garratt, built 1925 for banking on the Worsborough incline. In anticipation of it becoming redundant because of the electrification of the Wath-Penistone line (completed 1953), it was given trials in 1949 on the Lickey incline. The year 1955 saw its conversion to an oil burner, but it was finally withdrawn from traffic at the end of that year without being put into regular traffic. |
