Introduced 1951
Description (1957) Standard 'Class 5' mixed traffic 4-6-0's, based largely on the similar L.M.S. design introduced by Sir William Stanier in 1934. The British Railways' version first appeared in 1951 and construction proceeded until 1957. The class have 6' 2" driving wheels and 2 outside cylinders 19" x 28". Nos. 73125-73154 have Caprotti valve gear.
