During the last two weeks in December, there were numerous strangers in this area, helping with the Christmas workings when some expresses ran in as many as six parts-an unprecedented occurrence on the Midland Division. Locos noted included 324, 931 (20B); 1181 (19A), 2339 (21A), 2814 (2D), 4017 (19C), 4843 (22A), 4916, 5070 (1A), 5381 (5A), 5403 (5A), 5410 (8A), 5657 (22A), 8127 (20A), 8162 (20C), 8373 (4A). 2129, 2518 (13D), and 7312 (13B) have been seen working through light en route for shops. W.D. tanks 71473 an 71535 were dead in the loco yard on 23/12, but disappeared next day. |

New Work December: 'IVĀ° more '2F' 2-6-0's were completed dunng December-Nos. 46433 and 46434 on 8/12 and 13/12 respectively, thus completing the present order. Tne last Caprotti 4-6-0 of Order E 468, No. 44757, was completed on 22/12. No. 44728 (No. 11 of Order E 472) was completed on 31/12; the first ten of this order are to be built at Horwich. Another 'Patriot' Class 4-6-0, No. 45534, has been rebuilt with a taper boiler-completed on 10/12. No. 45522 will shortly be similarly dealt with.
