Ramifications of G.E electrification |
Following the electrification of the Chingford and Enfield branches on 13th November, Wood Street and Enfield sheds have been closed and with the complete scheme on 21st November, Hertford East (30B) and Bishops Stortford (31A) were closed; Ware, formerly sub to Hertford is now a sub of Stratford with a 204 h.p. diesel as before. As a result, 20 L1s and 29 N7s were withdrawn. The steam allocation of Stratford is now 55 engines only and all are inside cylinder engines, all its B1s and K1s having been transferred to GN lines, also its last two L1s (67703/30), which somehow escaped withdrawal. |
