Class A6. North Eastern 5'7" 4-6-2T's, a class of ten engines constructed in 1907-8, originally as 4-6-0T's, but later rebuilt as 4-6-2T's. They were known as the 'Whitby Tanks' as they were built for the steeply graded Whitby-Scarborough line. No. 9790 was broken up in 1947, while the remaining nine went between 1948 and 1953. |
