Class V4, Gresley's last design, introduced in 1944. Light-weight mixed traffic 2-6-2's, they were intended as a proto-53 type of a new general purpose engine, but were superseded by Thompson's B1 class of 1942. 5'8" wheels, 3 cylinders, 15 X 26 ins., 250 lbs. pressure. No. 61700 scrapped in 1957. |
