23/01/1954 Camden Links The Top Link at Camden Shed is now responsible for working one turn only to Carlisle; the 12.20 a.m. Euston-Glasgow sleeper and the 12.8 a.m. (9.20 p.m. from Glasgow Central) back the following morning. The remaining four through workings between Euston and Carlisle are in the hands of Upperby crews. The remaining duties in the Camden Top Link comprise all the Euston-Blackpool trips, except one worked by Blackpool shed, and a trip to Crewe and back. Owing to the fact that the 5.5 p.m. Euston-Blackpool express on Saturdays is usually a much lighter train than on other days in the week, a Longsight 'Jubilee' which works down from Manchester on Saturday morning is diagrammed to work up to Blackpool with the 5.5 p.m. on Saturdays, returning to London with the 2.45 p.m. from Blackpool on Sundays. 45644 'Howe' of 9A was noted on this duty on 7th March. The remaining Blackpool expresses are rebuilt Scot or Patriot engines. In this connection a Preston rebuilt Patriot (45522 'Prestatyn' on 7th March) works the 12.55 p.m. (Sundays) from Euston to Blackpool, returning to Preston late on Sunday night, before working up to Windermere 'L.E.' in the early morning to head the Manchester 'Club' train on Monday.
