| Description (1957) |
Class C1. Ivatt's large Great Northern Atlantics with 2 outside cylinders and 6'8" wheels. A class of originally 93 engines built between 1902-10. Of the 17 survivors to come into British Railways' stock, all were taken out of service by 1950, but the original engine, G.N.R. No. 251, has been preserved. |
